Dr. Lerner is board certified in urology, specializing in urologic surgery. He is a cum laude graduate of the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, where he was also an elected member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Lerner completed his post-graduate training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in New York City, where he was a resident in urology. He continued his training as a Fellow in urologic oncology at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

He is the director of the Prostate Program at The Center for Cancer Care at White Plains Hospital. Dr. Lerner is highly skilled in performing radical prostatectomies utilizing minimally invasive robotic techniques. In addition, he specializes in minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy) for cancers of the kidney, testis, bladder, as well as benign and malignant adrenal tumors and reconstruction of congenital kidney disorders including ureteropelvic junction obstruction.

Dr. Lerner has received numerous awards throughout his career and has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in the field of Urologic Oncology. He has also written several book chapters.
