Jacquelyn Brondi, PA, is a member of ����Թ�’s Urology team. Ms. Brondi’s early interest in medicine was piqued by the Magic School Bus episode, “Inside Ralphie.” The character had strep throat and Ms. Frizzle taught the class about the immune system and how medications assisted with care. She enjoyed getting monthly health pamphlets in elementary school and has always been intrigued by medical topics and conditions.  

Ms. Brondi studied biology and U.S. History in high school and participated in the Gay Straight Alliance.  Her love for biology and human stories prompted her undergraduate studies in biology, literature, and psychology. She feels that medicine is a unique and beautiful field as it requires a lifetime of learning, problem-solving, and connecting with people from all different walks of life. 

“As a physician assistant I was trained in being able to provide care in outpatient, ambulatory, and hospitals settings including emergency medicine, surgery, and family medicine,” said Ms. Brondi. Part of her training included being able to interview and examine patients, interpret lab data and imaging, and be able to form a diagnosis and provide treatment to patients, including medications and procedures. In urology, she performs examinations and in-office procedures, and assists in surgery alongside supervising physicians. 

Her approach to patient care comes partly from her physiology professor, who shared a quote from Sir William Osler early in her studies: “Listen to the patient. He is telling you the diagnosis.”  Ms. Brondi found this to be true. “The most successful practitioners and patients are those that are partners and have shared decision-making,” she said. “This relies on developing a rapport based on open communication and asking many questions.”  

During a patient visit, Ms. Brondi says it is important to earn her patients’ trust, make them feel comfortable enough to ask questions and leave with a thorough understanding of what they have discussed. “I enjoy being able to share knowledge and alleviate concern or discomfort. I am grateful that I can be a resource to patients and am honored that I get to learn their stories over time,” she said.

When she is not treating patients in the office, Ms. Brondi enjoys martial arts, knitting, crocheting, and amateur film study. Her passions include protecting and caring for public libraries and animal shelters. She is also interested in advocating for LGBTQIA and reproductive rights as their protection leads to better health outcomes. Ms. Brondi would like to educate the community about UTIs, incontinence, STD testing and management, and cancer awareness.
