Leslie Montgomery, M.D., FACS, FSSO is a surgical oncologist specializing in breast cancer.  Dr. Montgomery’s special clinical skills include: nipple-sparing mastectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, oncoplastic breast surgery reconstruction techniques, catheter-based partial breast radiotherapy, and Savi Scout®-directed breast conservation.  She hails from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where she was an attending breast surgeon for more than 11 years. During that time, she served as the Director of the Special Surveillance Breast Program and the Director of the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program.

She has served as the Chief of Breast Surgery at Montefiore-Einstein Center for Cancer Care and the Co-Director of the Breast Cancer Service at John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center.

She is currently the Regional Director of Oncology, North for ����Թ�.

“I recognize that being diagnosed with breast cancer is extremely frightening. It is very important to me that I am able to establish a rapport with the patient and to convey the necessary information about the diagnosis and treatment options in a clear and understandable manner”, she says.  “The breast cancer journey is a collaboration between the patient and her/his cancer team and that teamwork usually begins with the breast surgeon”.

Her research interests include:  pre-operative therapy trials to reduce the burden of disease in the breast and axillary nodes, particularly in patients with triple negative breast cancer.  For her work in the field of triple negative breast cancer, she was awarded the 2017 Hero Award from the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.
