Alex Gitelman, MD is a member of Íøºì³Ô¹Ï's Orthopaedic Surgery team, specializing in minimally invasive and reconstructive spine surgery. His passion for orthopaedics began in childhood, after suffering sports injuries and experiencing firsthand the relief that high-quality orthopaedic care can provide. He was deeply inspired by the way effective treatment could significantly improve one’s quality of life.

For two decades, Dr. Gitelman has been passionate about the surgical treatment of spine problems. He has witnessed many technological advancements over this time. His specialty is in helping those who have had unsuccessful spine surgery, as well as situations where non-surgical means have not been successful. He finds immense satisfaction when a debilitating back or neck problem is successfully treated with surgery, particularly using minimally invasive techniques.

Dr. Gitelman's philosophy is to only resort to surgery only when absolutely necessary. He explains that “we do not consider surgery until it becomes clear that the problem is not addressable by non-surgical means, and surgery has a high likelihood of success. In these situations, there is frequently a higher than 90% success rate with surgical intervention."

Outside of work, Dr. Gitelman enjoys snowboarding, rock climbing, and playing tennis with his wife and three kids. He loves exploring new places and is an avid reader, particularly in history and science fiction. A passionate advocate for equitable healthcare, he believes that everyone should have access to excellent care, delivered with respect, understanding, and efficiency.
