Betsy Varghese, MD, is a physician with ����Թ�’s Internal Medicine team. Dr. Varghese pursued a career in health care because she wanted the opportunity to build relationships, educate individuals, and empower patients to take the driver’s seat in maintaining their health.

Her expertise within primary care includes prevention and the management of both acute and chronic illnesses. Dr. Varghese also provides specialized care in obesity and weight management, to adults 18 years old and above.

Albert Einstein once said, “A clever person solves a problem. A wise person avoids it.” Dr. Varghese’s patient care is similar. “I take a proactive approach to disease prevention and diagnosis by taking part in routine, guideline-directed recommendations,” she says. As part of this methodology, she invites patients to actively discuss their diagnosis as well as a plan for the next steps in treatment.

Dr. Varghese strongly believes a successful visit means: “My patient feels heard and we are able to come to a mutual agreement regarding care." It is her priority to know that each patient leaves a visit with a sense of support and hope.

When practicing medicine, Dr. Varghese enjoys that every patient interaction is different because every patient is different. The longer she works in medicine, the more she learns that medicine is truly an art which offers multiple options to address similar concerns.

Outside of the office, Dr. Varghese has many interests, including cooking, baking healthy recipes, hiking, and running around with her kids. Family and friends are also very important to her, as well as picking up a good book to read in the mornings while drinking a hot cup of coffee.

Educating the community is also a passion for Dr. Varghese, especially on the topics of nutrition, exercise, preventive health practices and its role is disease prevention and management.
